Photoreportage (2012-2015)
Living on the islands of Archipelago Sea at the southwest coast of Finland.
40,000 islands and rock formations are spread over an area of 8,300
Square kilometers - that's just the equivalent
a quarter of the area of North Rhine-Westphalia. 60,000
People live in the archipelago permanently - that
corresponds to 1.5 people per island.
It seems metaphorical that it was very misty at my first, very short visit to the archipelago. But I fell for it. I was in love with this place and the images and stories I expected to find. So I returned with funding, my camera and more time to spend. But the closer I looked, the more the image of this place I was looking for seemed not to exist.
I caught myself in stereotyping, with expectations that the actual stories did not meet. To reflect on that change in photoreportages I developed a photobook.
Currently I'm looking for funding to publish the book in a limited edition.
