Photoreportage (2011-2014)
Over the period of three and a half years I accompanied a woman on the traditional Walz with my camera. Thoko is one of about 500 young craftsmen and -women who still follow the medieval tradition. The aim of that long journey after the apprenticeship is to develop in their trade (hat making in her case) as well as personally. The so called "Wanderschaft" is mainly known in German-speaking countries as well as Scandinavia and France (with some differences).
There is many customs and rules that are followed. Here are some examples: to remain outside a 50 km radius of his hometown, not pay for accommodation and food (get in touch with the locals!) and always wear the traditional clothes in public during your journey.
