Photoreportage (2011-2014)
Thoko Hancock (24) is a hat maker. After her apprenticeship she commits to be a Wandergesellin - traveling craftswoman. The German tradition roots back to the late Middle Ages and is kept alive by about 500 young men and women today.
For three years and one day Thoko will have to wear the typical clothing Kluft, not come closer than 50 kilometers to her hometown and not spend money on transport nor accommodation.
